Im Februar verschickte das Bündnis Solidarische Stadt Regensburg einen Boykottaufruf an alle an den Thurn und Taxis Schlossfestspielen beteiligten Künstler*innen, Sponsoren, Medienpartner sowie an die lokale Politik. Die ersten Presseberichte lassen aufhorchen: Niemensch will mit der rechtsaffinen Milliardärin etwas zu tun haben. Veranstalter und örtliche Presse versuchen den Schaden so gering wie möglich zu halten und schrecken dabei auch nicht vor Diffamierungsversuchen zurück. Allerdings gibt es auch einen, der sich hinter die Schlossherrin stellt, der Schweizer Rechtspopulist Roger Köppel. Er macht in dankenswerter Offenheit klar, was die Schlossfestspiele in Wirklichkeit sind: AfD-Spiele.

Nach Boykottaufruf: Wie viel Gloria steckt in den Schlossfestspielen? von Katharina Kellner

Als erstes berichtete das örtliche Monopolblatt. Das ist einerseits lobenswert, denn die MZ ist ansonsten tief verstrickt in die PR rund um Thurn und Taxis und die gleichnamigen Schlossfestspiele. Jährlich wird beispielsweise ein eigenes Schlossfestspiele-TV eingerichtet, in der sich örtliche Journalist*innen und Möchtegerns geradezu überschlagen in Huldigungen an „Ihre Durchlaucht“.

Andererseits kann die Monopolzeitung einen derartigen Aufruf nicht einfach übergehen, denn immerhin gibt es da noch den Pressecodex, der zur Berichterstattung verpflichtet. So entschied sich die MZ für die windelweichste Möglichkeit: Kein einziger Vorwurf gegen die Milliardärin wird konkret erwähnt. Es heißt nur allgemein, ihr würden „demokratiefeindlichen Aussagen“ vorgeworfen.

Auch die Distanzierungen der Beteiligten von der Person Gloria von Thurn und Taxis werden auf der niedrigst mögliche Stufe wiedergegeben:

• Reinhard Söll (Odeon Concerte): „Ihre öffentlichen Äußerungen wolle er nicht kommentieren“

• Joachim Wolbergs (Brücke): „Vieles von dem, was von Thurn und Taxis öffentlich sage, sei Unsinn.“

• Maria Simon (Grüne): „Simon distanziert sich deutlich von den Positionen der Schlossherrin.“

• Jürgen Eberwein (CSU): „Ihre Äußerungen wollte er nicht kommentieren.“

• Thomas Burger (SPD): „Er wolle die Debatte nicht befeuern und daher keine Stellung zu einzelnen Personen beziehen.“

• Sponsor BMW: „Die BMW Group unterhält im Rahmen der Schlossfestspiele keine wirtschaftlichen Beziehungen zum Haus Thurn und Taxis.“

• Hofer Symphoniker: „Intendantin Cora Bethke schrieb, sie sehe „gegenwärtig keinen Anlass“, Äußerungen von Gloria von Thurn und Taxis zu kommentieren“.

Was die Beteiligten aber schon sagen dürfen, sind Diffamierungen und Falschaussagen. So behauptet der Veranstalter Söll:

„Herr Raster hat schon X Boykottaufrufe gemacht und niemand hat darauf reagiert.“

Die verantwortliche Journalistin wusste es zwar besser, sie wurde in einem längeren Telefonat über die Reaktion von Revolverheld informiert, auch über die Absage von Rainhard Fendrich, die sehr sicher auf das Bündnis zurückgeht. Aber die MZ ließ Sölls Falschaussage unkommentiert stehen.

Auch Oberkorrupti Wolbergs durfte über den Ansprechpartner was Abfälliges behaupten:

„Herr Raster ist nicht für voll zu nehmen.“

Offensichtlich hat der wegen Bestechlichkeit verurteilte Ex-OB immer noch nicht verwunden, dass sein gebrochenes Wahlversprechen, die Reduzierung der kommunalen Pflegeheimplätze durch die Schließung des Michlstift, von Recht auf Stadt und dem nicht „für voll“ zu nehmenden Herrn dunnemal eine volle Breitseite erhalten hatte.

Aber auch die MZ beteiligt sich an der Diffamierung des Ansprechpartners und damit an der Beschädigung der Boykott-Kampagne. So schreibt die Journalistin:

„Das Bündnis vertritt Aktivist Kurt Raster, der in Regensburg als nicht unumstritten gilt.“

Warum der Aktivist „nicht unumstritten“ sei, verschwieg die Journalistin. So machen das für gewöhnlich nur Internettrolle, die jemanden was anhängen wollen, ohne einen Beleg zu haben. Denn der Einsatz für kommunale Pflegeplätze oder, wie im Artikel erwähnt, gegen Wohnungsnot, gilt im Allgemeinen und „unumstritten“ als vorbildhaftes Bürger*innenengagement.

Wohl um noch zu retten, was nicht zu retten ist, fährt die MZ neben der Diskreditierung der Kampagne eine zweite Verteidigungsschiene auf: Die Schlossfestspiele hätten rein gar nichts mit der Person Gloria von Thurn und Taxis zu tun. Auch hier darf Veranstalter Söll von Odeon Concerte die Linie vorgeben:

Söll: „Die Fürstin vermietet lediglich ihr Schloss, sie ist nicht Veranstalterin.“

Brücke und CSU sekundieren:

Wolbergs: „Sie sei als Person aber nicht gleichzusetzen mit den Festspielen.“

Eberwein: „Die kulturelle Veranstaltung habe nichts mit von Thurn und Taxis und ihrer politischen Einstellung zu tun.“

Hier sei der Grafikabteilung gedankt. Denn illustriert wird der MZ-Artikel, in dem behauptet wird, die rechtslastige Milliardärin hätte nichts mit den Schlossfestspielen zu tun, mit einem Bild, auf dem die Schlossherrin mit weit ausgebreiteten Armen vor der voll belegten Zuschauendentribühne posiert. Die Aussage ist unzweideutig: Willkommen bei meinen Spielen!

Süddeutsche Zeitung

Haltet euch von Gloria fern! von Deniz Aykanat

Klare Kante dagegen zeigt die Süddeutsche Zeitung. Schon die Überschrift lässt keine Fragen offen: Haltet euch fern! Im Gegensatz zur MZ werden hier sehr wohl „ihre Entgleisungen, die eigentlich keine sind, sondern tiefsitzendes rechtes Gedankengut“ aufgezählt.

Auch die Distanzierung von Revolverheld aufgrund des Boykottaufrufs wird samt Wortlaut erwähnt: „Wir spielen hier auf dem Grund einer Frau, mit deren Werten wir überhaupt nicht übereinstimmen.“

Schließlich wird auch vom „Branchentreffen der Rechtspopulisten“ so „erzreaktionärer Männer wie Kardinal Müller oder Roger Köppel“ berichtet, zu dem die „sogenannte Fürstin“ auf ihr Schloss einlädt. Die Süddeutsche bekräftigt:

„Wer sich mit solchen Leuten und Ansichten keine Bühne teilen will, sollte bei Gloria von Thurn und Taxis nicht auftreten und denen nicht zuschauen, die es doch tun.“

Bam! Interessant finden wir, dass die Autorin außerdem schreibt, wer die Schlossherrin öffentlich kritisiere, werde mit „zig Mails einer wutschnaubenden Gloria-Fan-Brigade bombardiert“. Stimmt! Unter anderem fanden wir folgende fröhliche Zusendungen in unserem Mailkasten:

„Wer bitte hat euch den ins Gehirn geschissen um gegen Fürstin Gloria so vorzugehen

Ich könnte im Strahl kotzen wen ich sowas höre eine First Lady derartig anzugehen ist PERVERS

Die Fürstin verfolge ich in den Medien seit Jahren alles was sie von sich gibt ist hochintelligent souverän

Dargestellt .

Euer vorgehen ist so erbärmlich wie die der Ampelregierung

Wenn es noch eines Beweises bedurft hätte, dass der Gloria-Fan-Gemeinde kein Zucker, sprich: keine weiteren Schlossfestspiele, gegeben werden darf, ist er hiermit erbracht.

»Diese Schlossfestspiele sind kein Bussi-Bussi-Ereignis« von Gitta Düperthal

Vorbildhaft ließ die Junge Welt die Boykottaufrufenden selbst zu Wort kommen. Allerdings ist dem Interviewten ein kleiner sprachlicher Fauxpas unterlaufen. Auf die Frage „Lädt man bei Thurn und Taxis neuerlich gleich rechtslastige Prominenz ein, weil andere nicht kommen würden?“, antwortete der Befragte: „Das ist unser Ziel“. Natürlich ist es nicht unser Ziel, die Schlossfestspiele zu einem Happening für rechte Künstler*innen zu machen. Eilig versuchte der Unglücksrabe seinen Fehler zu korrigieren:

„Wir möchten Thurn und Taxis mit ihren Ansichten, die ins AfD-Milieu passen, isolieren. Das ist kein Bussi-Bussi-Ereignis. Wer sich unter die Schirmherrschaft der rechtslastigen Milliardärin begibt, wird diesen Makel nie wieder los. Xavier Naidoo würden wir nicht zum Fernbleiben aufrufen. Er passt dorthin.“

Insider wissen, Xavier Naidoo war für die Schlossfestspiele 2020/21 gebucht, welche allerdings wegen Corona ausfielen. Wir hätten an ihn keinen Boykottaufruf verschickt, aber natürlich zusammen mit anderen aufgeklärten Gruppen gegen seinen Auftritt protestiert.

Fürstin Gloria von Thurn und Taxis: Warum ein Bündnis zum Boykott ihres Schlossfestivals aufruft von Gabriele Ingenthron

Viele weitere Zeitungen berichteten, Passauer Neue Presse, Münchner Abendzeitung, Schwäbisches Tagblatt, jedoch scheinen sich alle mehr oder weniger auf eine Veröffentlichung des Evangelischen Pressedienstes zu beziehen. Stellvertretend dafür exzerpieren wird das evangelische Sonntagsblatt.

Das Sonntagsblatt listet eine Vielzahl der im Boykottaufruf angeführten Aussagen von Frau Thurn und Taxis auf. Auch wird auf die Reaktion von Revolverheld verwiesen. Was aber den Artikel interessant macht, ist der breite Raum, der dem Veranstalter Söll von Odeon Concerte zur Verfügung gestellt wird. Dies hätte er aber lieber vermeiden sollen.

Wie internetaffine Menschen wissen, ist einer der dümmsten und entlarvensten Kommentare, der mangels einer vernünftigen Entgegnung auf ein sachliches Argument abgegeben werden kann, der Lachsmiley, deshalb auch Deppensmiley genannt. Und was antwortet Herr Söll laut Sonntagsblatt auf die Frage nach dem Boykott?

„Da lache ich drüber“.

Aber es kommt noch schlimmer. Als Grund für den Boykottaufruf sieht er keineswegs die skandalösen Aussagen der Milliardärin, sondern antwortet, wieder in typischer Internet-Deppenmanier, mit unbelegten Behauptungen über die Person. Der Aufrufer sei

“bekannter Linksradikaler, der einen Hass gegen die Fürstin”

habe. Natürlich! Nicht rassistische, homophobe und sonstwie rechtslastige Aussagen bringen anständige Menschen zum Handeln, sondern nur schnöder, persönlicher Hass!

Und wie steht es mit der Linksradikalität? Einmal abgesehen davon, dass an „links“, also sozial statt Faustrecht, und „radikal“, also an der Wurzel anpacken statt an den Symptomen rumdoktern, nichts Ehrenrühriges ist, gründet sich das Bündnis Solidarische Stadt Regensburg explizit auf die einzelnen Artikel der Allgemeinen Menschenrechte, wie es im Manifest der Solidarischen Stadt Regensburg festgeschrieben ist. Was bedeutet es nun, wenn jemensch das Bekenntnis zu den Menschenrechten als „linksradikal“ einstuft? Die betreffende Person steht weit rechts.

Offensichtlich hat Herr Söll mit Frau Gloria von Thurn und Taxis mehr gemein, als er nach außen hin vorgibt. Dadurch wird der Fall Gloria von Thurn und Taxis zunehmend auch zu einem Fall Odeon Concerte.

Und schließlich erreicht uns noch ein Beitrag aus der Schweiz. Eben jener Roger Köppel, der von der Süddeutschen Zeitung unter die erzreaktionären Rechtspopulisten gereiht wird, springt der Milliardärin zur Seite. Ganz besonders ärgert ihn das Wort „solidarisch“, was ihn unverblümt zu einem leicht abgewandelten Goebbelszitat greifen lässt:

„In der wunderschönen Stadt Regensburg gibt es die Solidarische Stadt Regensburg. Wenn ich das Wort „Solidarität“ höre, dann geht bei mir sowieso gleich mal das Sackmesser auf.“

Goebbels bekundete bekanntlich, wenn er das Wort „Kultur“ höre, entsichere er seinen Revolver. So eingestimmt, fährt Köppel in dankenswerter Offenheit fort. Ganz selbstverständlich sind für ihn der Boykottaufruf gegen die Schlossherrin Gloria von Thurn und Taxis,

„eine unkonventionelle großartige Persönlichkeit, die ich sehr sehr gerne habe, die ich wirklich mag“

und die Unterdrückung der AfD ein und dasselbe. Er ist da offensichtlich einem ganz großen Ding auf der Spur:

„Man boykottiert eine unbequeme Persönlichkeit. Und das ist natürlich das Resultat einer Stimmung in Deutschland, die das Resultat ist einer falschen Politik. Das wird von oben geschürt, vom Staat.“

Erwischt! Ja, wir geben zu, wir „Linksradikale“ (Söll) wurden für unseren Boykottaufruf von Mama Staat bezahlt. Alle bekamen einen Antifa-Ausweis, mit dem wir frech wie Oskar jedes Monatsende unsere unverdiente Stütze abholen.

„Warum machen sie das? Ganz einfacher Grund: Weil sie einen Stress haben wegen der AfD. Weil die AfD zu erfolgreich ist. Eine Partei, die diesen ganzen faulen Zauber, diesen faulen Konsens hinterfragt.“

Und der Rechtspopulist redet sich um Kopf und Kragen:

„Und weil eben alle unter einer Decke stecken, weil die Journalisten und die Politiker einen medial gouvernementalen Komplex bilden in Deutschland, wird hier eine Einheitsmeinung von oben durchgepeitscht. Und wehe all denen, die dagegen sind, wehe einer Gloria von Thurn und Taxis, wehe einem Uwe Tellkamp! Man versucht dann wirklich mit zum Teil inquisitorischen, fürchterlichen, völlig unsolidarischen, unanständigen Methoden hier diese Leute zum Schweigen zu bringen.“

Immerhin hat er am Schluss seiner Geiferrede noch einen kurzen Augenblick der Selbsterkenntnis:

„Sie reden mit Andersdenken wie Irrenärzte mit Verrückten.“

Dies wollen wir als Schlusswort über die Verteidiger*innen der Thurn und Taxis Schlossfestspiele gerne so stehen lassen.

Everyone distances themselves from Gloria von Thurn und Taxis

In February, the Solidarity City of Regensburg Alliance sent out a call for a boycott to all the artists, sponsors, media partners and local politicians involved in the Thurn und Taxis Castle Festival. The first press reports make you sit up and take notice: Nobody wants to have anything to do with the right-wing billionaire. Organizers and the local press try to keep the damage as low as possible and do not shy away from attempts at defamation. However, there is also someone who supports the lady of the castle, the Swiss right-wing populist Roger Köppel. With grateful openness, he makes it clear what the Castle Festival actually is: AfD games.

The local monopoly newspaper reported first. On the one hand, this is commendable, because the MZ is otherwise deeply involved in the PR for Thurn and Taxis and the castle festival of the same name. Every year, for example, a separate Castle Festival TV is set up, in which local journalists and wannabes almost fall over themselves in homage to “Your Serene Highness”.

On the other hand, the monopoly newspaper cannot simply ignore such a call, because after all there is still the press code that obliges reporting. So the MZ decided on the softest option: Not a single allegation against the billionaire is specifically mentioned. It is only generally said that she was accused of “anti-democratic statements”.

The distancing of those involved from the person of Gloria von Thurn und Taxis is also reproduced at the lowest possible level:

• Reinhard Söll (Odeon Concerte): “He doesn’t want to comment on your public statements”

• Joachim Wolbergs (bridge): “Much of what von Thurn und Taxis says publicly is nonsense.”

• Maria Simon (Greens): “Simon clearly distances himself from the position of the lady of the castle.”

• Jürgen Eberwein (CSU): “He didn’t want to comment on your statements.”

• Thomas Burger (SPD): “He does not want to fuel the debate and therefore does not want to take a position on individual people.”

• Sponsor BMW: “The BMW Group does not maintain any economic relationships with the House of Thurn and Taxis as part of the Castle Festival.”

• Hofer Symphoniker: “Intendant Cora Bethke wrote that she “currently sees no reason” to comment on statements by Gloria von Thurn und Taxis”.

But what those involved are allowed to say are defamation and false statements. The organizer Söll claims:

“Mr. Raster has already made X boycott calls and no one has responded to them.”

The journalist responsible knew better, she was informed in a lengthy telephone call about Revolverheld’s reaction, including Rainhard Fendrich’s rejection, which very certainly goes back to the alliance. But the MZ left Söll’s false statement uncommented.

Oberkorrupti Wolbergs was also allowed to say something derogatory about the contact person:

“Mr. Raster is not to be taken seriously.”

Apparently, the ex-mayor convicted of bribery has still not gotten over the fact that his broken election promise, the reduction of municipal nursing home places through the closure of the Michlstift, had received a full broadside from the right to the city and the Mr. dunnemal, who was not to be taken “for full”. .

But the MZ also participates in defaming the contact person and thus in damaging the boycott campaign. The journalist writes:

“The alliance represents the activist Kurt Raster, who is not considered uncontroversial in Regensburg.”

The journalist did not say why the activist was “not undisputed”. This is usually only done by internet trolls who want to frame someone without having a receipt. Because the commitment to municipal care places or, as mentioned in the article, against housing shortages, is generally and “undisputedly” considered exemplary citizen engagement.

In order to save what cannot be saved, MZ launches a second line of defense in addition to discrediting the campaign: the Castle Festival has absolutely nothing to do with Gloria von Thurn und Taxis as a person. Here, too, organizer Söll from Odeon Concerte can set the line:

Söll: “The princess only rents out her castle, she is not the organiser.”

Bridge and CSU second:

Wolbergs: “But as a person, she is not to be equated with the festival.”

Eberwein: “The cultural event has nothing to do with Thurn and Taxis and their political attitude.”

Thanks are due to the graphics department. Because the MZ article, which claims that the right-wing billionaire has nothing to do with the castle festival, is illustrated with a picture in which the lady of the castle poses with her arms spread wide in front of the fully occupied spectator stage. The statement is unequivocal: welcome to my games!

Süddeutsche Zeitung

Stay away from Gloria! by Deniz Aykanat

The Süddeutsche Zeitung, on the other hand, shows a clear edge. Even the headline leaves no questions unanswered: Stay away! In contrast to the MZ, “their gaffes, which aren’t really any, but deep-seated right-wing ideas” are listed here.

The distancing from Revolverheld due to the call for a boycott is also mentioned, along with the wording: “We’re playing at the bottom of a woman whose values we don’t agree with at all.”

Finally, there is also a report on the “industry meeting of right-wing populists” of “arch-reactionary men like Cardinal Müller or Roger Köppel”, to which the “so-called princess” invites to her castle. The Süddeutsche confirms:

“Anyone who does not want to share a stage with such people and views should not appear at Gloria von Thurn und Taxis and should not watch those who do.”

bam! We find it interesting that the author also writes that anyone who publicly criticizes the lady of the castle is bombarded with “tens of emails from an angry Gloria fan brigade”. Is correct! Among other things, we found the following cheerful mailings in our mailbox:

I could puke when I hear something like that, treating a first lady like that is PERVERT

I’ve been following the Princess in the media for years, everything she says is highly intelligent and confident

If proof was needed that the Gloria fan community shouldn’t be given sugar, i.e. no more castle festivals, this is it.

“These castle festivals are not a kiss-kiss event” by Gitta Düperthal

In an exemplary manner, Junge Welt allowed those calling for the boycott to have their say. However, the interviewee made a minor linguistic faux pas. In response to the question “Are Thurn und Taxis inviting right-wing celebrities again because others wouldn’t come?” the interviewee replied: “That’s our goal”. Of course, it is not our goal to turn the Schlossfestspiele into a happening for right-wing artists. The unlucky raven hastily tried to correct his mistake:

“We want to isolate Thurn and Taxis with their views that fit into the AfD milieu. This is not a kiss-kiss event. Anyone who goes under the patronage of the right-wing billionaire will never get rid of this flaw. We would not call on Xavier Naidoo to stay away. He fits there.”

Insiders know that Xavier Naidoo was booked for the 2020/21 Castle Festival, which, however, was canceled due to Corona. We would not have sent him a boycott appeal, but of course we would have protested against his appearance together with other enlightened groups.

Princess Gloria von Thurn und Taxis: Why an alliance is calling for a boycott of her palace festival by Gabriele Ingenthron

Many other newspapers reported, Passauer Neue Presse, Münchner Abendzeitung, Schwäbisches Tagblatt, but all seem to refer more or less to a publication of the Evangelisches Pressedienst. The evangelical Sunday newspaper will excerpt as an example.

The Sunday newspaper lists a large number of the statements made by Ms. Thurn and Taxis in the call for a boycott. Reference is also made to Revolverheld’s reaction. What makes the article interesting, however, is the wide space that Odeon Concerte makes available to the organizer Söll. But he should have avoided that.

As internet-savvy people know, one of the dumbest and most exposed comments that can be made in the absence of a reasonable reply to a factual argument is the smiley smile, which is why it is also called the smiley for the idiot. And according to the Sunday newspaper, how does Mr. Söll answer the question about the boycott?

“I laugh about it.”

But it gets worse. He doesn’t see the billionaire’s scandalous statements as the reason for calling for a boycott, but responds, again in typical Internet idiocy, with unsubstantiated claims about the person. The caller be

“well-known left-wing radical who hated the princess”

Naturally! It is not racist, homophobic and otherwise right-wing statements that bring decent people to action, but only despicable, personal hatred!

And what about left-wing radicalism? Apart from the fact that “left”, i.e. social instead of right-wing, and “radical”, i.e. tackling the roots instead of tinkering with the symptoms, is nothing defamatory, the Solidarity City of Regensburg Alliance is explicitly based on the individual articles of the General Human Rights , as laid down in the manifesto of the Solidarity City of Regensburg. What does it mean when someone classifies the commitment to human rights as “radical left”? The person concerned is far to the right.

Obviously, Mr. Söll has more in common with Ms. Gloria von Thurn und Taxis than he appears on the surface. As a result, the Gloria von Thurn und Taxis case is increasingly becoming an Odeon Concerte case as well.

And finally we get a contribution from Switzerland. The same Roger Köppel, who is ranked among the arch-reactionary right-wing populists by the Süddeutsche Zeitung, jumps to the side of the billionaire. The word “solidarity” particularly annoys him, which makes him bluntly resort to a slightly modified quote from Goebbels:

“In the beautiful city of Regensburg there is the solidarity city of Regensburg. Whenever I hear the word “solidarity”, my pocket knife goes up anyway.”

As is well known, Goebbels declared that when he heard the word “culture”, he would release the safety on his revolver. So attuned, Köppel continues with thankful frankness. For him, the call for a boycott against the lady of the castle, Gloria von Thurn und Taxis,

“an unconventional great personality who I like very much, who I really like”

and the suppression of the AfD are one and the same. He’s obviously on the trail of something really big:

“You boycott an uncomfortable personality. And that is of course the result of a mood in Germany that is the result of wrong politics. This is fueled from above, by the state.”
